Ariadne 150th Anniversary Celebration in Maryborough Queensland Programme of Events Saturday 29 September 2012 to 1st October 2012 10am Re-enactment of the arrival of the Ariadne involving the tall ship South Passage including Mr Chiam’s search for a bride. Period costumes required for passengers. Followed by: • Welcome to Country by Mark Singho .Welcome by Fraser Coast Regional Council Mayor, Gerard O’Connell to Her Excellency the Governor of Queensland, Ms Penelope Wensley AC . Address by Governor. • Poem ‘Mary River’ to be read by Shelly Hansen 11.30-12.30pm Luncheon at the Brolga Theatre for VIP’s Food will be available at Excelsior Band Food Stall and Hotels and Cafes. 1pm Unveiling of the plaque by Her Excellency, The Hon. Penelope Wensley AC 2-4pm Free concert in Queens Park, featuring music and dance from around the world 5-9pm Lamplight Bazaar and Ghost Walk and Bush Band Deep Fried Damper All day activities • onwards Pirate ship activities for children and family games. Display- Antique Cars. • Visit the Ariadne Art Exhibition at the Maryborough Art Society in Kent Street • Family Tree displays and souvenir and book sales at the CWA Rooms in Wharf Street Sunday 30 September 2012 11am-1pm Sunday in the Park, featuring brass bands and miniature trains 1.30-3.30pm Bus trips to Maryborough’s stately homes, Rose Garden and old township site 6pm Dinner for descendants of the Ariadne and other interested parties at the Maryborough Cricket Club, Ariadne Street Monday 1 October 2012 Coach trip to River Heads and picnic lunch. The Immigration Celebration – 150th anniversary Sailing Ship “Ariadne” is supported through funding from the Australian Government’s Your Community Heritage Program.
