FREE FAMILY FUN FESTIVAL IN LOGANHOLME From within the Climate of Change spreading through the country, comes a local initiative aimed at demonstrating how families can connect and have fun whilst promoting healthy, sustainable living. If you are looking for a way to spend quality time with the kids over the weekend, look no further than this free, local, fantastic family day. Saturday12th April needs to be a date for your diary. 'Return to the Family Patch' promises entertainment for the whole family; from bouncy castles, donkey rides, petting zoos and mini workshops to a live music festival. The festival artists include AKoVA, this incredible multi-instrumentalist transfixes audiences and will be supported by teen band, Mercury Moon. "AKoVA is an amazing performer. His music is not only original and fun it has real substance and meaning." Adam Ifland 95.5fm There's plenty to eat with fresh produce and some "Green Smoothie fun going on", plus inspiring mini-workshops for parents and children to encourage the creation of your own veggie patch. Advice and assistance is on hand to get your 'Green Fingers going', with organic gardening and fermenting tips, plus for those who like to chill out over the weekend; relaxation techniques and emotional wellbeing advice is also on offer. Return to the Family Patch has been organised by Tamsyn Rosenberg, founder of Loganholme-based company, Get Real. The organisation’s key focus is empowering children and their families. Tamsyn said, "It's going to be a great day out, heaps of good clean family fun and at the same time we will be showing families how to get started in their own kitchen garden, and how to then use it to support healthy diets, and families and individuals that work on back-to-basic principles of communication, taking time for each other, kind of getting off the 'rat wheel' and slowing things down… real sustainable life! " Tamsyn has generated this one-day event to launch a community teaching "plot" where people can come together, learn new skills, build community relationships, get to know one another and simply have good old-fashioned family fun. She sees this event as encouraging deeper connections with our earth and each other – a green initiative towards true sustainable living! "We'll be running simple mini workshops on, how to get started, seed planting for the kids, how to prepare yummy snacks for the kids prepared fresh from your family patch, green smoothies and ice-blocks, fermenting workshops on how to balance out their healthy gut bacteria for free, stress management and emotional wellbeing tips and tricks... all this and more will be running throughout the day". Tamsyn is very grateful for the support of businesses in the community, “Thank you to the local tribe here in Loganholme, the many companies that have banded together offering sponsorship of everything we needed to make this event a success. Especially Bunnings Hardware, Coates Hire, Raw Blend, Native Nursery, Helensvale Quality Organic Meats, Brisbane Jumping Castles, St Matthew's Primary School, Pro Stage, Brad Wagner Photography, and many more! Tamsyn sums up the weekend event with this simple statement, "Inspiring families to return to the simplicity of coming home to each other and to their Family Patch". Come and celebrate the simple pleasures of 'Back to Basics' living. The event is being held on the new date of Saturday 12th April, between 12pm and 8pm, in Loganholme.
