Arabic is a compulsory second language at this school, the teaching of which provides better understanding of the Holy Quran and Hadith. In religious education, a sound program in Islamic studies is offered. This consists of Quran recitation, Islamic history, Fiqh, Tawheed, Hadiths and Akhlaq (moral training). Students also perform daily Zuhr Salat (early afternoon prayers) and the Friday Jum'a Salat (Friday prayers) at the school. In Arabic and Islamic Studies the school follows syllabuses designed by the Islamic College of Capetown, South Africa. To assess the level of achievement relative to other students in Queensland and Australia as a whole, the students of the school take part in Education Queensland administered Year 3, 5 and 7 Literacy and Numeracy Tests and Australasian Schools Competitions organized by University of Canberra and University of New South Wales. In 2003 and 2004 our school's average scores in both Literacy and Numeracy at all the three Year levels were higher than the State average. In the Australasian Schools competitions our students won 305 awards in 2004. These included 95 awards of Distinction and High Distinction in various subjects.
