No flashcard can run 3DS games
With the release of Nintendo 3DS in 2011, many new flashcards appeared to the market. Some of them are genuine and in good quality, but others are fake or weak flashcard. Any card that says "Supports 3DS ROM's" or "3DS Game Compatible" is nothing but a fraud. Currently there is no way to play the 3DS games that have been dumped at this point in time. The R4 3DS and R4i 3DS can only run DSi games on Nintendo 3DS console. Basically every 3DS card claiming to support 3DS ROM's is a SCAM.
Which flashcard should we avoid?
* Avoid to buy too cheap flashcard. There are many cheapest flashcards in the market. They only cost few dollards, which must be fake card. Can you belive a valueless chip to be precious? Good quality deserve good pay. If you only want to save money, you will take a waste and cost more. Fake flashcard can't run on Nintendo console, or always show "error" on the screen. So never take it, no matter they say.
* Bad compatibility means weak flashcard. If the flashcard offers weak compatibility, it is not advisable for you to buy it. For example, it can't support SDHC memory card, it can't support 3DS console……. A powerful flashcard should contain all function of a normal flashcard, and has it's own merit. Excellent flashcard means excellent compatibility.
* Don't buy flashcard without firmware update. If the firmware of the flashcard is very old version, it is a bad sign for buyer. Official website didn't update the firmware for a long time, the flashcard can't support latest Nintendo console. Good flashcard should keep on updateing the firmwarwe continuously to fixed new games. Lacking of firmware update, it means it is lagged, or on dying time.
* Pay more attention to service. Personally. I think the after maket service is most important. We pay money, so we should get warranty. Branded R4 3DS and R4i 3DS card provide 3 month warranty. The longer time, the better. Just think, if you buy a unknow flashcard, and few days later, the card is broken, the reseller offers no reply, and the official website can't be opened, what can you do?
"Fine" doesn't mean "Buy"
Most of the carts on this page is just stating it's fine if you have them. They won't brick your DS unless otherwise stated, and carts with poor compatibility will go under avoid. Note: For things such as the R6, I'll just need a little info about what games the most recent firmware can play, and even when the firmware was last updated. Obviously a cart with nothing but official firmware that hasn't been updated in a year or two is better off being put on the avoid list.
One more note: The standing of a cart can change at anytime for the most part with the exception of the carts listed under the avoid section. Once a cart manages to get under the "Avoid" section, it will be very difficult to remove it from that section.
Which flashcards are good?
There are many excellent flashcard in the market. Such as R4 3DS, R4i 3DS, Supercard Dstwo, Acekard 2i, M3i zero, r4itt, r4i-gold 3ds, r4i gold plus….. And so on. Considering the price and quality, we strongly recommend players to buy: R4 3DS or R4i 3DS card for use.
