My role as a therapist is to work with you towards acquiring a better understanding of yourself, as well as working towards the fulfillmnt of any goals borne from that understanding. Treating each person as an individual and preserving their autonomy is central to the way I work. I will listen very carefully to your story and to what it means to you as an individual, and not just impose a set of categories often used to treat conditions, such as depression, anxiety, anger, low self-esteem, and so forth. I will assist you as an individual to explore your feelings, beliefs, and values to get to the heart of what really matters to you. I will also work with you to explore how you relate to other people such as your partner, family, friends, and people you work with, and how your relations with them can be improved. Your values and beliefs may differ from theirs, therefore we would explore how best to live with those differences. Once you have had the opportunity to think about and identify what makes life truly meaningful for you, you will be able to live a better life.
