Deep Tissue Massage Therapy is one of the most common forms of treatment used to relieve problems associated with injuries, sore and tight muscles. It’s great at relieving congestion and improving circulation by breaking down adhesions and scar tissue. This treatment works well at restoring function and range of movement in limbs and joints that are suffering from stress as a result of overuse, weakness from a lack of use and rehabilitating from injuries, illness and/or surgery.
However it must be said that the pressure used for Deep Tissue Massage is quite hard and at times can be quite uncomfortable but for purposes of being beneficial, this particular type of massage therapy sometimes has to be hard to be effective. This treatment should never hurt or cause you pain as pain is the body's way of telling you "You've gone too far". A firm, slightly uncomfortable but bearable discomfort is the most anyone should feel from a deep tissue massage.
The results for this treatment may not be noticeable within the first 24 hours as muscles need time to adapt to the changes and restore their normal function. It is strongly advised to avoid drinking alcohol until the next day otherwise the muscles aren't able to repair properly and the treatment ends up being a waste of time and money.
