What does it mean to ‘Go Green’?
With global climate change concerns becoming a significant social issue, people are more aware of how their daily choices affect the environment. In particular, people are increasingly concerned about how energy production using fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas impacts the environment,
and in turn, our future quality of life.
There is a growing movement of environmentally conscious and well-informed consumers who are thinking about their finances, managing their money and making choices for their future in a new way. They are making choices based on whether or not products and services are earth-friendly, ethically-produced and made, recyclable and energy-efficient. Are you part of the quickly growing “going green” movement?
So many people think that going green means they have to completely change everything about their lifestyle. Nothing could be farther from the truth. All you have to do is make a few small changes to go green. If you try to make huge changes, you will probably give up and return to your old ways, so it is best to make small changes to start.
So why are our computer systems green?
Here at Micro Computers we promote and use products that we feel are making a significant effort to be earth-friendly in the way they are manufactured and how much power they consume.
We can build a computer to your specifications and use components that are eco friendly to deliver performance and energy efficiency.
For example, ErP (Energy-Related Products Directive) motherboards, EcoGreen Hard Drives, A-Ram Eco series RAM, RoHs components and LED Gold EPEAT Monitors.
Our basic computers use a 150W power supply unit which is one third of the power consumption of a standard desktop computer system that generally uses 450W plus of power. That’s a huge saving of 66% off of your next power bill and the amount you save will pay for your new system in no time at all.
RoHS (Restriction of use of certain Hazardous Substances) is an EU Directive that restricts the use of 6 hazardous materials in the manufacture of electronic & electrical equipment. All of the components we use to build our computer systems are RoHS compliant.

But what does this mean? EPEAT is a tool that allows consumers to evaluate and compare computer components by a number of environmental performance criteria and make a decision on which components to purchase based upon those criteria.
To receive the Bronze EPEAT seal, a component must conform to 23 required criteria.
To receive the Silver EPEAT seal, a component must conform to all 23 required criteria plus at least 50% of 28 optional criteria.
To receive the Gold EPEAT seal, a component must conform to all 23 required criteria plus at least 75% of 28 optional criteria.
