Project: Bendigo Bank Headquarters Architect: Bligh Voller Nield in association with Gray Puksand Architects Insulation: Dow Styrofoam Floormate Application: Underslab insulation in carpark The Bendigo Centre will bring all Bendigo Bank head office staff under the one roof for the first time in 10 years. The six-story office building is a landmark redevelopment of the city centre. It will incorporate a new shopping complex, cafes and outdoor meeting areas - including a timber-decked Bendigo Creek. The building itself is eco-friendly, with a range of features including under-floor air conditioning, atriums for natural light, external blinds to track the sun, louvre's for natural airflow, rainwater tanks and black-water recycling. Dow Roofmate has been used under the foundation slab in the carpark to Provide load-reducing thermal insulation. Dow Roofmate is an extruded Polystyrene board with a closed cell structure which means it won’t absorb moisture and offers excellent long term R-values. Dow Roofmate uses a CFC and HCFC free blowing agent, is free from ozone depleting gasses (ODP) and is Green Star compliant. The Bendigo Centre has achieved a 5 Star Green Star - Office Design v2 Certified Rating from the Green Building Council of Australia. “This will reduce energy consumption in the new head quarters by up to 60%. This project is a real win for the environment, cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 820 tonnes per year - the equivalent of removing 190 cars from Bendigo’s roads. This development aims to set new building environmental standards for a regional Australia by using less energy and maximising natural light for a more liveable work and community space.” John Thwaites Minister for Environment Environmental Data: Green Star Compliant Zero ODP CO2 Blown Low VOC's EU Reg EC\3093\94
