Wheel Alignment

Wheel Alignment means adjusting the angles of the wheels. The purpose of these adjustments is to reduce tyre wear, and to ensure that the vehicle is travelling straight and true (without "pulling" to one side). Alignment angles can also be altered beyond the maker's specifications to obtain a specific handling characteristic. An example is for Motorsport applications, where the angles can be adjusted well beyond "normal" for a variety of reasons.

Corner Balance from East Coast Suspensions thumbnail
15-Feb-2011

Corner Balance

Corner balancing means adjusting the car so there's an equal amount of weight on all four tyres. A ‘properly corner balanced car’ will have better handling, braking, acceleration & traction control on the road or racetrack. If a cars ‘corner weight’ is ‘unbalanced or ‘out of balance’, the vehicle will not feel stable in turns or at speed & may even lift a tyre off the road, which may cause the vehicle to leave the road and cause a serious accident.
