The Master of Accounting (12 subject program) is studied over three trimesters spread over one and a half calendar years, and may be completed in less time if the three trimesters are studied consecutively.
The course is aimed at those with an approved accounting degree at AQF Level 7 or above who want to continue to develop the knowledge and skills required for continuing professional education.
To enrol in this course, students must satisfy the following conditions:
Students MUST have completed the equivalent of Principles of Accounting in an approved accounting AQF Level 7 or above course to be eligible to enrol into the Master of Accounting. (This will satisfy the required pre-requisite ACC700).
Students must also have completed the equivalent of either Australian Business Law or Economics in an approved accounting AQF Level 7 or above course to be eligible to enrol into the Master of Accounting.
Students who satisfy Condition 1, and have not completed both Business Law and Economics, MUST study the other subject as their elective.
The course has 11 core subjects and 1 elective, which offer students advanced learning in accounting within the contexts of both professional practice and the theoretical standards that underpin such practice. The course concludes with a Research Project component which reinforces technical excellence in these fields within a framework that emphases core professional competencies in critical thinking, problem-solving and strategic decision-making, professional communication and persuasion, information systems applications and management and ethical awareness and reasoning.
