Reported to give very similar clinical symptoms to marijuana, the signs and symptoms of which are outlined below:
. Calming and sedating
. Sharpened sensory awareness - sights and sounds seem more intense and fantastic
. Reddening of conjunctivae
. Vasodilatation of blood vessels particularly the eyes
Increased heart rate Body tremors
. Odor Relaxed inhibitions / euphoria
. Disorientation / confusion Impaired perception of time / distance
. Lack of attention
. Stimulated appetite
. Inhibition of nausea and vomiting
. Confusion, delusion, hallucinations, psychosis.
A combination of the above, in the absence of a similar or more competent cause, would be consistent with the use of synthetic cannabinoids.
Analysis: Urine test kits are unlikely to reliably cross-react with enough intensity to give a positive response and should not be relied upon to detect use. Targeted analysis by GC-MS and/or LC-MS can be performed in urine for these molecules and metabolites of these molecules.
