He was the most famous opera singer in the world with hit films including The Great Caruso and million-selling records such as The Student Prince yet he only sang twice on an opera stage. He was 38 when he died mysteriously in a clinic. So who killed Mario Lanza? Was it the result of his extravagant lifestyle, was it the brutal demands of Hollywood, a medical blunder or something more sinister?
Aldo Di Toro plays Mario Lanza, the singing star hailed as "the greatest voice of the twentieth century’, Tiffany Speight plays the women in his life. Together these brilliant leading artists from Opera Australia explore the glamorous and tragic career of the great movie heart-throb, Mario Lanza. With renowned musical director Guy Noble as his conductor and friend, relive some of the greatest songs of all time sung by two of the finest voices in Australian Opera.Aldo most recently performed with Opera Australia as Alfredo in La traviata and Rudolfo in La boheme. Tiffany’s roles with Opera Australia include Despina in Cosi Fan Tutti and Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro.
