A good place to start is with our Pre-Holiday Security Checklist: Intruder Alarm Systems  When did you last test your alarm system? o Do all zones seal? o Do all zone activate? o Does the siren and strobe light work? o Does the alarm communicate back to the monitoring centre?  Has your security system been properly maintained i.e. batteries been tested or replaced?  Are all the security codes up to date? o Have all ex-employee codes been removed? o What staff may require access over the holidays? o Are your key-holders for the security monitoring available over the holidays or do you need to make other arrangements?  Will you be open outside of your normal operating hours or should the alarm remain on for the holiday duration? (you need to inform your monitoring centre)  If your alarm turns on or off automatically at pre-programmed times have these been adjusted to suit your holiday arrangements? ALERT: Hanging Christmas Decorations is a major cause of false alarms over the Christmas period. Access Control Systems  Have you had your system maintained and batteries tested or replaced?  Is the access control user database up to date? o Have all ex-employees been removed? o Who needs access over the holiday period?  Have your business operating hours changing? o Does your access control system need reprogramming so that doors and lifts do not unlock at your regular times  Will the system lock down on public holidays?
