This is a three bedroom house on a very tricky slope, but with spectacular panoramic city view. The house celebrates the view and catches the breeze at its southern side, but also lets in plenty of natural northern light. This controlled transparency is one of the main features of the house. Limited site access and rocky slope determine the usefulness of steel frame and prefab floors. Reclaimed Australian hardwood dominates on the envelope, while ceilings and joinery inside are made of reclaimed floor boards reassembled and glued to plywood panels. The existing house is scheduled for demolition, but most of its brick will get a new life as feature walls and thermal mass.
