The aim of this course is to identify the prerequisites for developing an athlete from the junior elite level through to an elite level. This course encourages the use of Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) methods, philosophy. It provides methods for application for the use of testing batteries and self-development of individual testing batteries to be used with junior developmental athletes. Throughout the course, the processes of movement competency, and specialist intervention application is also discussed in detail. Mode of delivery: Face-to-face; On-line and distance education The aims of this exciting course are to: Provide a background to the learner regarding the history of long-term athlete development, and reasoning for its importance within the athlete development and training environment. Provide a range of common injury limitations for athletes who do not adhere to a long-term competency model, explaining the stages of development for junior to elite athletes. Provide history of a movement competency model, explaining the stages of development for junior to elite athletes. Explain how the processes of movement competency specialist intervention is applied to the sports and training environment, where different allied professionals are involved. Explain the essential movements for sport, providing functional testing battery examples, which have been implemented in the sports specific environment.
