The 'Nutritional Needs for Training" course is a comprehensive course developed for fitness instructors, personal trainers, fitness professionals and other health practitioners, enabling them to understand the relationship between macronutriens (carbohydrates, proteins and fats) aids and their impact on training and fitness. The topics covered in this course are: estimation of energy requirements and energy expenditure of an athlete; basic division of nutrients with focus on macronutrients, the basic composition, function and classification of carbohydrate, carbohydrate goals for training and carbohydrate intakes before, during and after exercise. The course also places a focus on protein composition and its functions in the human diet, the requirements and relationship between protein production and consumption at different stages of exercise, as well as dietary functions of fats and their importance in an athlete's performance.

An understanding of an athlete’s energy expenditure estimation and its relation to dietary intake
An understanding of the common terminology used in relation to macronutrients
Essential concepts of carbohydrate, protein and fat intake such as digestion, absorption and transport of these macronutrients.
Knowledge on the effect of dietary variation of individual macronutrients (Carbohydrate, protein and fat) on athletic performance
The general concepts behind carbohydrate loading increased protein intake and modification of fat intake and their overall effect on athletic performance and health.
