Increasingly, screening for pathologies BEFORE the development of symptoms, is seen as best medical practice. Bowel cancer (large colon cancer) is one of the commonest cancers in Australia and therefore screening is recommended especially for those with a family history of colon cancer/ polyps and/or inflammatory bowel diseases and those above the age of 50 years.
