A Brief History Of The Lithgow City Rangers Soccer Club Inc. (1970-current)Before being named the L.C.R., the club started in 1970 as the Court House Soccer Club, being sponsored by the Court House Hotel in Lithgow. The beginning of the 1974 season saw a name change to Coverdale United, but in May of that year the club took on the name of Lithgow City Rangers Soccer Club.Sponsors at that time included, Austen & Butta Motors, Western Confectionery Inc., Eskbank Shell Auto Port, Rickard's Jewellery & Morgan's Total Service Station. The Committee of L.C.R. at that time was, Dennis White (President), Doreen White (Secretary/Treasurer), Bruce Wright (Coach) and Brian Sedger (Manager). Teams consisted of 1st, 2nd & 3rd Grade with a full junior age group for that time.In 1975, L.C.R. were Grand Finalist's in 1st & 2nd Grade and U/16's, and for the fifth season in succession, the 1st Grade side won the Langlands Cup breaking the Thistles Soccer Club record that stood for 60 years in front of a crowd of approx. 1000 at the Lithgow City Showground. L.C.R. 1st Grade retained the Langlands Cup until 1978 when they lost to Orange Waratahs S.C. on penalties.A highlight of 1977 was the visit of the then English First Division team Middlesbrough, who played a Western New South Wales side, which included several players from L.C.R. They also conducted a coaching clinic. After 10 years as President, Dennis White stood down, remaining with the club as a life member, being replaced by Wayne Clarke.Through the years L.C.R. have featured in many Champion of Champions and W.N.S.W. Challenge matches.January 1991 saw the beginning of Bruce Wrights dream for L.C.R. to have their own ground and clubhouse. This being attainable by an area of ground adjacent to the Wallerawang Power Station. This area was kindly donated by the Electricity Commission and now named Delta Park. Many working bees were held to get the facilities up to a high standard with the grand opening on the 4th April 1992.In April 2000, L.C.R. celebrated their 30th Anniversary at the Lithgow City Bowling Club with many players, past and present, attending. Several of the original sponsors also attended and an excellent night was had by all. A time capsule was buried at Delta Park, to be opened in April 2020 on the clubs 50th Anniversary. The Lithgow City Rangers S.C. was a life long dream of Bruce Wright's and his sudden passing in March 2001 was a tremendous loss to the club and to Lithgow Soccer.Over the years many players have passed through the ranks, and now the sons, (and daughters), of the original players are with the club, continuing the long existence of L.C.R.Today, L.C.R. has juniors from U/6 to U/16, Ladies & Senior Men all playing in the Lithgow District Soccer Association.  Sponsors for the club are Wallerwang Bowls Club, Delta, Lithgow Valley Springs Water, Busy Corner Takeaway Lithgow and R. & A. Chainsaw's and Mower's Lithgow. A very big THANKYOU to these business houses for their continued support.
