Job selection criteria from Job Seeker Coach

Selection criteria are used by government agencies and some private companies. They can be included in the position description for the advertised position or they might be generic criteria that apply to a number of positions. They comprise the competencies that a person needs to perform the role effectively. It is therefore important that when you apply for a position that has section criteria, you must clearly demonstrate how you meet each of them. A brief statement that you meet the criteria is unlikely to get you an interview. A good response to selection criteria, combined with a good cover letter and a good resume or CV, will improve your chances of getting a job interview.
