Scene From Above Aerial Images
Photography, Photographer, Digital Camera
Often there are requirements for images from higher than the mast can reach, but requiring detail unobtainable from full-size aircraft due to air traffic restrictions. This is where the kite comes into its own for heights of between 13 and 120 metres. A customised camera mount is suspended from the kite line, approximately 20 metres below the kite. Self-levelling suspension ensures the camera remains horizontally level, while remote control equipment controls camera tilt and shutter, with the operator guided by the inbuilt video downlink to the groundstation. It is even possible, in some locations, to use this technology by towing the kite behind a boat, even if there is no wind to support the kite.
