The Dalwood Spelling Test
A standardised spelling test for Kindergarten to Year 10 students
Testing time: 30 minutes
Administration: Individual & Group
The Dalwood Spelling Test is a norm-referenced test of spelling skills, administered using a standard dictated word format. The 100 items are graded in difficulty with Year based starting points to help reduce test administration time. Two equivalent forms (1 & 2) are available for test - retest evaluation of students' progress.
The test is normed on over 8,400 students from government and non-government schools in NSW metropolitan and regional areas. Scores on the two forms of the Dalwood Spelling Test correlate well with student's performance on the South Australian Spelling Test. The test offers an alternative, well validated measure of students' spelling competence. Particular focus was given in the construction of the test to provide good sampling of skills at lower levels. Scores are presented in easy to interpret school year and term levels.
The Dalwood Spelling Test is available for purchase by contacting Rachael Pearce from North Sydney Local Area District. An order form with contact details can be downloaded at literacyandlearningcentre.wikispaces.com/Dalwood+Spelling+Test
