What is Microwave Oven Radiation or Leakage ?
Whenever a microwave oven is turned on, radioactive energy is produced which causes the water molecules in the food to vibrate rapidly. This rapid vibration produces heat within the food, which in turn, cooks the food. The energy produced by a microwave oven can also penetrate through living tissue which is why exposure is harmful to our health. Once you turn off the oven, the microwaves disappear but until then, you may be exposing yourself to dangerous levels of radiation leakage.
So what can I do to keep my Microwave Oven Safe?

Eliminating any “Perceived Risk of Injury” in respect to microwave radiation. Ensures microwave ovens are compliant to AS3760:2003 Radiation Leakage Inspection: involves the measurement of radiation levels around the oven using an advanced microwave oven survey meter to ensure they are below limits specified in AS3350.2.25. The Australian Standard states "The microwave leakage at any point 50mm or more from the external surface of the appliance shall not exceed 50W/m2 (5mW/cm2)."
