Graham Marchant - The Colour of Light
Graham Marchant is a local Sydney artist who made his home in Australia after relocating from England in 1981.
With over thirty years experience as a practising artist and art educator, Graham has been a full time artist since 2003.
Working in the mediums of drawing, painting and printmaking, Graham intently observes and explores the nature of various objects and the physical environment, and the human need to collect, organise and order the physical environment.
Using a life time collection of objects and textiles, Graham constructs an environment belying the casual clutter of collected memento mori from life and nature.
Marchant's work is represented in many Australian and International collections including: National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, ACT; La trobe University, Australia; Nepean Hospital, NSW, Australia; Cheltenham Art Gallery UK; Art Bank, Australia; New Parliament House, Canberra, Australia; Australian Maritime Museum, Sydney, Australia; University of Central England, Birmingham, UK; Hills Grammar School, Sydney, NSW.
