At The Vein Institute’s accredited clinic a patient will undergo a ‘leg marking’. With ultrasound visualization, the problem vein and the important areas are drawn onto the skin making a map to use as a guide during the procedure. The patient then has a topical numbing cream applied to the skin for one hour. This makes the injection of the local anesthetic almost painless. In a sterile setting, the patient is placed on the table; the area is then cleaned and prepped by the doctor for the laser procedure. Local anesthesia is given under color duplex ultrasound guidance, and then a minute laser fiber is inserted directly into the vein through a catheter (tiny tube). Pulses of laser energy are released along the course of the vein to seal it completely. EVLA requires only a small nick in the skin. Once the laser has sealed the vein the fiber is removed and a steri-strip or bandaid closes the area.

Vein Gogh Ohmic Thermolysis

The VeinGogh system uses a pen like stylus which holds a needle almost the size of a human hair to deliver a “microburst” of controlled energy just under the outer layer of skin, but above the vessel. The energy pulse specifically targets the vessel wall and heats it instantly, causing the vessel wall to collapse and eventually get absorbed by the body.
This process is referred to as “Ohmic Thermolysis” and is very safe and virtually pain free.

VenaSeal Medical Adhesive "Medical Superglue"

Veanaseal™ or 'superglue' treatment by Sapheon is the latest non-surgical treatment that uses a medical adhesive to safely and effectively treat varicose veins. Unlike other treatments, Veanaseal™ does not require tumescent local anaesthetic around the vein, so there is usually only one local anaesthetic injection. The Veanaseal™ procedure also eliminates the use of heat (or thermal energy) so there is virtually no risk of nerve or skin injury or any major reaction to the anesthetic.

Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy

Ultrasound Guided Foam Sclerotherapy allows our doctors to visually guide and monitor a needle to the exact source of the incompetent vein (valve) to be injected. By using ultrasound we can treat more quickly and safely larger and deeper veins that once required more invasive surgical treatment.

Cryo Sclerotherapy

The Vein Institute uses cooling cryotherapy to numb the skin before you are injected during sclerotherapy. The cryotherapy machine delivers short bursts of super-cooled air to numb the skin and reduce inflammation during the injections. This results in a more comfortable procedure, faster cosmetic results, and faster healing time.
