Beginner’s Eight Week Course: Yoga is a wonderful, holistic practice, but unfortunately the only practice that allows us to decide for ourselves which level of class to attend. For most of us if we are slightly flexible or strong we will very quickly find ourselves in an advanced class, before we are fully aware of the proper foundations of yoga, body alignment and correct breathing techniques, making us more prone to injury.
This course will shed light on these very important elements and will enable you to choose wisely which class to attend and how to modify each practice in order to meet your needs and better protect yourselves.
*If you have never practiced yoga before, we recommend that you take the eight week beginner’s course before you begin drop-in classes.
Beginner’s drop-in class: A class suitable for yoga novices and those who have some experience with yoga but haven’t had a change to practice in a while. This drop-in class is the natural progression from the eight week beginners course.
Foundations: A specifically designed class for people who want to revisit the essentials of yoga. We go back to basics and journey into the body through alignment; return to the breath through awareness and calm the mind through stillness. Suitable for all levels from absolute beginners to advanced practitioners who would like to be reminded of the wonderful building blocks that make up this ancient practice.
Open: A heart-warming yoga flow suitable for all levels of practice. Your devoted teacher will guide you through the practice and offer alternative postures for a variety of levels.
Dynamic: A dynamic and creative vinyasa practice, linking breath to movement and building heat, endurance, flexibility, strength and concentration. This class is designed for seasoned yogis looking to ignite their practice with a little spirit and delve into the more advanced aspects of yoga including pranayama and meditation. This course is also suitable for yoga teachers looking to challenge themselves and be inspired through more creative sequences.
Prenatal: Connecting with your baby in a loving environment is the best gift you can give yourself during this exciting time. Our prenatal program is adapted for the ever changing pregnant body and your growing baby’s needs. Focusing on the breath as well as gentle strengthening and stretching, this class will empower you and prepare you emotionally, mentally and physically to have a beautiful and positive birthing experience.
Baby and me (newborn to pre-crawler): A loving class that gives you the chance to connect with your baby and build on core strength and posture too. This class is open to both mums and dads and includes elements of physical practice, baby massage and relaxation.
Restorative: Restorative Yoga is the yoga of deep, conscious relaxation. It is the Yoga of ‘Being’, rather than the Yoga of ‘Doing’. Using as many props as necessary, this type of practice allows your muscles, ligaments and organs to relax on a much deeper level and by doing so to restore Prana, energy, life force. As your body finds the shape of the posture and melts into place your nervous system switches to calmness and a deep inner healing mode. This type of practice is extremely important and valuable to all people who live in modern society. It’s complementary to a strong Yoga practice and is suitable for all levels and all ages.
Community: We are taking yoga to the people in this one-hour yoga class taught by our experienced Sukha Mukha teachers at a discounted rate so everyone can get their yoga fix.
Love conquers all: We bring our energy together in this donation-only practice on the first Friday of the month to show our devotion to worthy causes. Our noble teachers will donate their time and theme an inspirational class focused on the theme of love. All proceeds go to a charity as suggested by our students – suggested donation of $20.
Jivamukti Yoga: A style of yoga developed by New York’s Sharon Gannon and David Life. Jivamukti combines a vinyasa practice with focus on Spiritual Activation and includes a Flowing Asana practice, Sanskrit chants and Vedic teachings alongside beautiful and inspiring music. Great for those who want to learn more about the finer aspects of yoga and enjoy a strong practice at the same time.
Kids Yoga: Kids yoga promotes inner strength, self-esteem, improved concentration and healthy bodies. Our kids yoga classes will explore each students natural ability to open their mind, body and heart. It is a wonderful way to introduce your child to a healthy lifelong activity in a fun and non-competitive environment.
4-8 year olds: Animated breathing exercises, playful yoga poses, interactive games and relaxation techniques are the foundation for this class.
9-14 year olds:Focusing on building self-confidence, physical strength and concentration we will introduce a flowing yoga sequence with partner poses, inversions and relaxation techniques with a light and playful spirit.
