Application

Monitoring of the water level within an underground coal mine.

Key Requirements

  • - Certified for use within an underground coal mine (potential for methane gas)
  • - Analogue output to measure up to 30m of water depth
  • - Facility for cable and catenary connection to lower the transmitter 300m down a bore
  • - High accuracy and repeatability
  • - Sensor referenced to atmosphere

Solution

STS submersible pressure transmitter with the following key features;

  • - IECEx certification
  • - 4-20mA output with 3X overpressure on a 0-30m range transducer
  • - 330m intrinsically safe ‘blue’ cabling with Viton seals and catenary fittings on the rear of the stainless steel housing
  • - 0.1% FS accuracy with temperature compensation from -5 to 80 deg C
  • - Sensor referenced to atmosphere via an integrated ‘breathing’ filter
