Application

Monitoring the speed of diesel locomotives.

Key Requirements

  • - Retrofit within existing mechanical constraints
  • - Resistance to heavy vibration and shock loads
  • - Electrically compatible with control and data-logging systems
  • - Ability to operate in environments subject to high temperature variations

Solution

Hengstler series encoder with the following key features;

  • - Compact 36mm IP64 housing with hollow shaft mounting capabilities and radial cable entry
  • - Vibration resistance of 100 m/s (10 - 2000Hz) and shock resistance of 1000 m/s (6ms)
  • - Supply voltage of 5VDC with a 500ppr short circuit proof push-pull transistor output
  • - Operating temperature resistance of -10 to +70 deg C
