 The Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 (POEO Act)  and the POEO (Noise Control) Regulation 2008 Defines Offensive  Noise  as a noise which is likely to be harmful to, or to interfere  unreasonably with people outside the premises from which the noise  is emitted. The interference or harm could come from the level, or the  type of noise.
