When you ride a Sunova surfboard you will feel the difference immediately. You will notice the speed the surfboard seems to generate by itself, right from the initial drop. In actual fact, it’s the speed that you don't loose after a bottom turn. It really does feel as if Sunova surfboards can store all of your energy and force that you put on them in a turn, and release this gradually when you need it most, when you are heading up for a top turn, or when you are straining to duck under a sledging lip. It feels like cheating! I once remember Taj saying ” you put 100% in and they give you back 120%”.
You will notice that your Sunova is stronger than your previous PU board. One of our reps commented, “After watching my board smash against the reef at the bluff [Red Bluff] I was pleased to scratch only the nose of my board”!
…… then surviving [no dents] a thrashing around in a Sky West airlines cargo hold, you can tell that these boards are strong.
Bert once took a board across America, 5 different connections, Florida to San Diego with no board cover, and all it got was a slightly damaged nose. The board looked like it got jammed in their conveyor belt as the nose was covered in ground up rubber dust. We put a nose guard on and you never knew.
Sunova has been making composite sandwich surfboards for over 20 years. Almost all of which are still in the surf today, admittedly some are on people’s walls, but hey, we’re not surprised as there are works of art, as well as a surfboard.
Sunova boards last longer than conventional PU foam and polyester resin boards. We use premium epoxy resins [stronger and more costly – Compsand?], put together with fibre glass cloth, structural core and skin foams, balsa wood, other Veneers and our 11 secret herbs and spices, Sunova’s unique construction formula.
You may remember the disappointment of seeing a pressure ding in your new surfboard in the past. Well, with a Sunova surfboard, pressure dings like those are a thing of the past. We’ve had customers who comment that their boards still appear ‘as new’ after full years of surfing.
The days of gaining dings from light bumps in the car park are gone. As long as you don’t mind scratching these ‘works of art’, Wax these ‘puppies’ up on the bitumen if you really want to test the quality of our build. We make all Sunova surfboards, shortboards and mals stronger, and lighter.
To achieve these goals Bert Burger has worked long and hard fine-tuning epoxy resin systems and staged an ‘assault’ to bond high performance structural foams, balsa wood, fibre glass and epoxy resin to achieve the most powerful construction.
