Virtually every facility requires industrial scrubbers to keep the floor clear of unsightly dirt and debris that can cause accidents. While the benefits of having a floor scrubber are obvious, how to choose the right one may not be. The following are questions to ask yourself to help you choose the right industrial floor scrubber your facility:
1. Ask yourself: Sweep, scrub, or both? Some facilities require sweeping, some require scrubbing, and others need both. Although sweeping may seem like the ideal way to remove fine dust, a scrubber is actually the ideal choice, as it is the ideal choice for oily or really dirty surfaces. Sweepers work better for removing bulky debris that includes metal shavings, chips, and fibrous materials. Sweeper/Scrubber combos are ideal when the facility is small and one person is responsible for the cleaning due to small holding tanks.
2. What about narrow spaces? There are ride-on scrubbers that are narrow enough to fit in small spaces, but walk-behind floor scrubbers may work best for those extra narrow spaces. It is important to consider the area as a whole and the labour savings, so ask yourself if those narrow areas can be made less narrow or items moved so that a ride-on can fit, otherwise a walk-behind may be ideal.
3. What about the floor type? Scrubbers are intended to work on hard floor surfaces, but the floor type will determine the brushes, squeegees, brooms and other accessories that are chosen.
