Using the latest technology The Safe T Smart Plug System provides a worlds best practice electrical monitoring and safety system. The system works by replacing selected power points within a building/workplace with Safe T Smart Plug Power Points. Any electrical equipment plugged into these outlets is tested for earth leakage every half a second. Protectively earthed appliances are tested for earth continuity every five seconds. The electricity supply to the power point is immediately disconnected if a fault is recorded. Where it is not practical to disconnect power to vital equipment (i.e. Computers and Data Centres) a visual alarm can be triggered to warn of the fault. Faults are reported via the electrical wiring of the building to a computer every 20 seconds. The presence of a switchboard RCD (Safety Switch) will prevent electric shock in the event of a major fault. The threshold for the system to register a fault is preset to the Australian Standards for earth leakage and earth continuity. Incorporated into the system are highly visible signs at each power point to constantly remind staff to be aware of electrical safety. Regular visual inspections of equipment and power leads are made easy with inspection check lists generated from a software data base.
Power can be turned off automatically to one or more power points at the end of the day by the monitoring computer. Benefits of this include reduced operating time of equipment not intended to run during the night, reduced risk of fire, reduced wear and tear and reduced power consumption.
