Rosby
Vineyard is a 15-year-old block of shiraz and cabernet sauvignon on a unique
hillside position in Mudgee’s Eurundere Valley. Owned an
operated by long-time Mudgee family, Kay and Gerald Norton-Knight, Rosby Vineyard’s intimate six
hectares of vines makes up in passion what it might lack in size.
Since the
first grapes were planted in 1996, Rosby fruit has been one of the most
consistently sought-after vintages in the region, thanks to the vineyard’s
unusual soil structure of red basalt over free-draining quartz gravel, and
Gerald’s strict management philosophy of sacrificing yield for premium quality
fruit.
Over the
past five years, the Rosby Cabernet Sauvignon and Rosby Shiraz have snapped up
several awards and significant critical recognition, including gold and silver
medals in the tightly contested Mudgee Wine Show, and the Dave Robertson
Memorial Trophy for Cabernet Sauvignon.
