About Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University
Since 1957, the Queensland Conservatorium has provided talented and committed young musicians with the guidance, inspiration and resources to achieve their artistic aspirations and prepare for a professional career in music.
Today Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (the Conservatorium) is housed in world-class facilities at South Bank – one of Australia’s leading cultural precincts. The Conservatorium’s students and teachers are drawn from around the world.
At South Bank, the Conservatorium hosts around 650 undergraduate and postgraduate students. Almost a quarter of these are international students. A further 75 students attend the Gold Coast Campus, where the Conservatorium launched Australia’s first Popular Music degree in 1999.

The Conservatorium also provides a stepping-stone to future music studies for some 800 pre-tertiary students. Programs such as the Young Conservatorium encourage the Conservatorium’s youngest musicians to explore their creativity and musicality, and make music part of their lives.
The Conservatorium offers unique programs including:
· Intensive orchestral and ensemble studies
· Outstanding vocal and opera programs with fully staged, critically acclaimed operas each year
· Premier keyboard, strings and vocal programs with a high rate of student success in national competition
· Jazz and contemporary music programs that are at the forefront of musical practice performance-centred programs that combine theory and practice
· Practical programs that emphasise individual creativity and develop collaborative relationships between staff and students, performers and composers.
The Conservatorium also manages a Performers' Agency and a significant Venue Hire business.
The Conservatorium features an acoustically-superb 615-seat concert theatre, a 200-seat recital hall, professional recording and music technology facilities, one of the country's best music libraries and 210 offices, teaching studios, rehearsal rooms and performance spaces.
