The Lumidigm biometric technology employed by Mitrefinch as part of their Time and Attendance offering, has been named in Gartner's 2011 Cool Vendors in IAM (Identity and Access Management) Report. By capturing fingerprint data beneath the surface of the skin, the Lumidigm multispectral fingerprint sensor sidesteps the problems that other conventional biometric systems experience when they are exposed to common environmental factors like dirt, moisture, heat, cold, and bright ambient light, or skin characteristics such as dryness, roughness, and ageing. According to the Report, "a client told Gartner that one particular advantage of the Lumidigm technology is its ability to capture a fingerprint image through a medical glove". With this technology, biometrics can finally provide the same type of reliability as a traditional swipe card or proximity fob, without the associated disadvantages, including the cost of producing and maintaining cards/fobs. For this reason, biometric implementations using multispectral fingerprint sensors are becoming the solution of choice over traditional proximity fob or swipe card-based systems. While it sounds new-age, and something that may be reserved for large government agencies, this technology is available here in Australia. Mitrefinch have partnered with Lumidigm, to integrate their powerful multispectral imaging sensors into all Mitrefinch Biometric Time and Attendance units – from wall mounted clocking terminals to desktop USB devices. Australian organisations are already benefitting from the superior performance of Mitrefinch Biometric Time Management solutions; from Meat Processors who operate in cold, refrigerated areas, to construction workers with cuts and calluses on their hands, as well as those that work in areas that are commonly hosed down.
