While you are there have a look at the ’Old Miner’s Cottage’ and the implements used in the old days for Fossicking when you pick up your Bucket of Wash.
Fossicking this way takes all the hard work out of digging in the Fossicking Fields and the Children have a lot of Fun finding the Gemstones as with you. Wear old Clothes it can get a bit dirty, don’t forget your Hats and Sunscreen, great fun for everyone. Some good finds have been made from Fossicking through a bucket of Wash, just ask the Locals.
‘Miner’s Cottage’ is located on the Left only 650 metres from Rubyvale Post Office and RubyvaleHotel down past the Caravan Park on Goanna Flats Road. A bucket of Wash usually takes an hour to Sieve and Wash and we check when you have finished and find the ones you missed so you can take them home with you. Aaron will check your finds and separate & weigh any that may be worth cutting putting them in separate bags.

If you can only make it for a Short Stay in our area this is a quick way to take home a Souvenir Gemstone and stay with us while you do it.If you find a nice Gemstoneyou may be able to get it cut before you leave it usually takes 24-48 hours to be cut depending on the time of year and how busy they are and then you might like to get it set into jewellery when it is cut or do it later when you get home.
