[MARS] Melbourne Art Rooms Gallery, situated on Bay Street in Port Melbourne, opened in February 2005 and has quickly earned a reputation as one of Melbourne's most exciting commercial art spaces.
Originally an old dairy, the vast two storey MARS building was neglected and run down during its use as a warehouse and a mechanical workshop. Remarkably reincarnated blending aspects of the old and the new, MARS is a unique space that offers a backdrop of simplicity and generous proportions to showcase outstanding art.
A popular venue for up-market and prestigious events, cocktail parties, launches and conferences, the MARS space includes a fully licensed onsite café, movable walls, state of the art sound system, adjustable lighting, air conditioning, and network ports throughout the ground floor.
[MARS] hosts exhibitions by their represented artists including local, national and international artists as well as carefully selected unrepresented and emerging artists. MARS proudly hosts guest curators and artists groups.
MARS is committed to nurturing a new style of commercial gallery practice that is not bound to traditional formats. The gallery space at MARS is state of the art. The Gallery Management team is highly committed and our quest is to present contemporary art with the highest integrity.
