About Kilcowera Station
Kilcowera Station is between Thargomindah and Hungerford, about halfway along the Dowling Track in South West Qld. Travelers by air or road are now able to visit the 49,000 ha property and enjoy the rangelands, lagoons, creeks, waterholes, gorges, caves and wildlife.
Guests can take the 60 km self drive tour around the property and view the RAMSAR listed Lake Wyara which is our eastern boundary. The lake and its’ associated wetlands are of international significance and are among the most important inland water bird habitats in Australia. The isolated Murderers’ Bore, as featured by Evan McHugh in his soon to be released book “Outback Mysteries” will also be seen on the tour.
Accommodation is provided in clean, comfortable shearer’s quarters which can sleep 17. All linen supplied. Bathroom facilities are outside and separate from the main building. We can provide all meals (with advance bookings) or your can bring your own supplies and cook for yourselves in our fully equipped kitchen. Great hospitality, tours and camp oven cooking are our specialty. Camp sites are also available in 3 separate campgrounds. Contact Greg or Toni Sherwin for your outback experience.
