Kenneth Cobonpue created this custom size C U-C Me pendant lamp for KE-ZU to meet the demand for economical ambient lighting in large voids. Made in the Philippines of woven wire dipped in Salago fibre with a translucent fiberglass diffuser. The C U-C Me pendant lamp is a relatively light light fitting for it’s size. C U-C Me pendant lights are available in cream, dark brown, lime green and red. Kenneth Cobonpue’s design brilliance is once again apparent with this pendant lamp.
The internal diffuser of C U-C Me pendant lights creates a gentle distribution of light rather than the harsh direct light of similar lamps with exposed light bulbs. C U-C Me large spherical pendant lamps are regularly specified for restaurants, hotels, clubs, shopping malls and homes or wherever large volumes of space require sculptural ambient lighting at an economical price.
C U-C Me pendant lamps designed by Kenneth Cobonpue are also available 400mm diameter and in other shapes. Imported from Kenneth Cobonpue’s h-i-v-e factory in the Philippines by KE-ZU and available across Australia. See www.kezu.com.au for more detailed product information and location of your nearest distributor.
Kenneth Cobonpue began studying Industrial Design at Pratt Institute in New York, 1987. Whilst completing his degree, he apprenticed for a leather and wood workshop near Florence, Italy. In 1994, he studied Furniture Marketing and Production in Reutlingen, Germany.Kenneth Cobonpuereturned home to the Philippines in 1996, to manage Interior Craft of The Islands Inc, a company founded in 1972 by his mother, Betty Cobonpue, a designer famous for creating new techniques in rattan.
Kenneth Cobonpue discovered that modern design could have a new face using natural fibers and materials. It was from this that he slowly created the environmentally friendly pieces which form the heart of the Kenneth Cobonpue collection today. Integrating locally sourced organic materials with innovative handmade production techniques offered an alternative to the Western Definition of modern design.
'From the strart, I was seeking a fresh sensibility to embrace and develop with regard to design. I didn't find it in Milan. Nor in New York. I found it closer to home in the tropical island of Cebu.' Today, Kenneth Cobonpue designs offer the perfect foil to the sleek, hard surfaces of contemporary interior spaces.
