insignia launches the latest Thermal Transfer Overprinter (TTO) from the Domino V-Series: The V300+

Latest news from Insignia

18-Aug-2009 insignia launches the latest Thermal Transfer Overprinter (TTO) from the Domino V-Series: The V300+ from Insignia

insignia is pleased to announce the latest release to the Domino V-Series range of TTOs, the V300+, which offers highly efficient thermal transfer overprinting on flexible materials, for high volume manufacturing environments. Domino was able to enter the TTO market after the acquisition of Easyprint,, a company which specialised in the design, manufacture and distribution of innovative thermal transfer overcoding (TTO) equipment.

In November 2006, Domino Printing Sciences announced the acquisition of 100% of the equity in Easyprint A/S from Easyprint Holding ApS and Vald.Nielsen & Son Export A/S.  Easyprint A/S, based in Karlslunde, Denmark specialises in the design, manufacture and distribution of innovative thermal transfer overcoding (TTO) equipment.

Nigel Bond, Group Managing Director of Domino Printing Sciences plc commented, “Easyprint has a superior range of thermal transfer printing equipment which will be marketed globally through a combination of existing Easyprint distribution channels and Domino's own strong global sales and support network.”

Shortly thereafter, Domino entered the Thermal Transfer Overprinting (TTO) market with the Domino V-Series, which was a remodelled version of the Easyprint thermal transfer overprinter. This acquisition, along with the conception of the V-Series, further enhanced Domino's range of coding and marking products, enabling them to better satisfy the requirements of their extensive global customer base.

The Domino name has long been synonymous with quality and reliability when it comes to coding and marking technologies. insignia and Domino have formed a successful distribution partnership over the years to offer an excellent level of service delivery and support to customers. As the national distributor of Domino products in Australia, insignia has a fully trained and highly skilled service team that is able to offer complete support and access to all Domino products and consumables. With a wealth of manufacturing experience, insignia’s product managers are well-equipped to assist you with your current or future product identification requirements.

The Domino V-Series thermal transfer printer offers clear legible codes on both intermittent and high-speed lines and provides high-quality printing on flexible materials. It has been designed to integrate seamlessly into a range of flexible packaging machines including vertical and horizontal form/fill/sealers.

The Domino V-Series is ideal for coding onto flexible materials such as:

  • Flat packaging film, labels and gloss cards
  • Flexible coated aluminium
  • Labels
  • Paper
  • Polypropylene
  • Polyethylene
  • Tyvec

The Domino V-Series produces a superior code quality; it creates sharp, clear images and is ideally suited to high-speed production lines. This soft-contact coding technology from Domino is the ideal solution for coding requirements such as logos, graphics, barcodes, data matrix codes and large amounts of text. The V-series guarantees high-quality print results; increased security and traceability; clean technology; no perforation of the film; and low running costs.

The versatile V300+, available in both 2” and 5” printheads, is the latest addition to Domino’s V-Series range and is ideal for use in high volume manufacturing environments. Achieving a print resolution of 300dpi, it is capable of applying sharp, high quality variable data onto a wide range of web materials. It is designed for use in both continuous and intermittent modes, and can be mounted on a variety of flexible packaging machines including vertical or horizontal form, fill and seal machines and label applicators, making it suitable for many key food, pharmaceutical, health and beauty applications.

Delivering a new concept in TTO, the V300+ does not require a dedicated controller but can be operated from any PC based user interface running a standard internet browser. As a result, one or more printers can be controlled by either an existing OEM packaging machine interface, a PC / laptop or the optional Domino touchscreen, offering lower capital cost benefits and a high degree of installation flexibility.

Like all V-Series printers, the V300+ has unique, simple to use label creation software on board, eliminating the need for extra software and unnecessary operating complexity.

The unit includes simple, maintenance free dancing arm technology providing consistent tension between new and used ribbon spools, which prevents ribbon breakage and ensures responsiveness in high-speed applications, resulting in less maintenance, increased uptime and higher production speeds.

The V300+ includes a patented variable ribbon economy feature which offers ribbon savings of up to 60% by using a shorter length of ribbon compared to the length of the actual print achieved on the product. Combined with the unique ribbon auto-retraction system which ensures less than 1mm gap between the prints on the ribbon roll, this provides huge consumable cost-savings by minimising ribbon waste.

In addition, the V300+ offers the highest-capacity ribbon rolls currently available - up to 1,400 metres – again resulting in reduced changeover and increased uptime. These are available in a wide range of grades, colours and widths, adding to the flexibility of the printer’s performance and suitability for a wide range of web materials and industry applications.

Yann Gorrity, General Manager for Domino SAS says “The V300+ excels through its simplicity, unique ribbon saving technology, flexibility and reliability. Its greater functionality and productivity enhancements will be of huge benefit to our customers in improving the overall effectiveness of their manufacturing operations.”

The V300+ can be complemented by
a comprehensive range of support services, including technical support, training, servicing and warranties, consumables and after sales products. insignia’s national service infrastructure is there to ensure that all their customer’s production lines are always running efficiently and smoothly.

Jack Winson, General Manager for insignia said he is “excited to be working in partnership with Domino to offer our customers this kind of technology. The V300+ has already proven to be more efficient and cost-effective for many manufacturing companies here in Australia”.
