The Prati Slitter, Inspection and Rewinder machine was installed in January and is used in the finishing process of manufacturing labels. The function of this machine is to slit bulk rolls of labels produced on the press into their finished size, rewind onto a specified core size and provide a final roll count. It is capable of running up to 250 metres of label stock per minute, literally twice as fast as older technologies. Various detection functions such as splice detection and missing-label detection improve the quality process further. This investment in ‘Servo’ technology provides electronic controls for ease of operation, higher precision and increased efficiency, which for customers means a better quality product and reduced lead times. insignia have also installed a new Datamax I Class 400 DPI high resolution label printer, specifically for the overprinting of sequential barcodes. This equipment also has a verifier attached to ensure outstanding print quality. The verification equipment scans each and every barcode produced to ensure accuracy and guarantee performance. Sequential barcodes are often used for asset labelling and serializing parts. Accuracy is essential for these unique serial codes as a barcode non-read may affect production or asset records. This new equipment provides peace of mind for customers with a 100% guarantee of print quality.
