About Holyoake NSW Family Drug & Alcohol Programs
is one of the pioneers in assisting families of chemically dependent people.
offers support for families and individuals affected by another person's problematic substance use or other addictive behaviour problem. Using a combination of group therapy, education and support Programs offer help for all family members. Groups are available for children (5 - 18), partners, spouses, siblings and parents.
Clients develop skills that are effective in reducing Alcohol and other Drug (AOD) problems by offering alternative ways of dealing with everyday issues. Evaluation of our programs has shown clients experience positive changes in lowered anxiety, increased awareness skills and promote an atmosphere of change.
Prior to commencing the program there is an initial assessment with a counsellor. Groups of up to 8 people meet weekly in either an afternoon, evening or weekend for a set period of time.
The group process allows people to feel accepted and listened to in a non-threatening environment. Importantly, groups reinforce the knowledge that people do not have to take on responsibility for fixing another person's alcohol or drug problem.
