Doug's career in journalism and media spans 30 years.
For the first 13 years of his career, he was employed as a journalist by ABC Radio and Television in Sydney and Melbourne.
In 1990, he was appointed to the position of ABC Washington Correspondent. During that time he covered events such as the Gulf War and the dismantling of the Soviet Union.
In 1992, he moved to Canberra to take up a position as Political Reporter in the Canberra Press Gallery; he then transferred to television in Melbourne to anchor the national morning news and current affairs program, First Edition.
Other positions held at the ABC include Editor, Chief of Staff and Executive Producer.
Doug has also lectured in Journalism at RMIT University, worked as a political adviser, developed media strategies and executed issues and crisis management programs for a range of companies and organisations.
Doug has conducted more than 900 presentations on the media. He has also designed and presented a range of advanced public relations and media training programs for journalists from Indonesia, Vietnam and China.
Doug established Corporate Media Services in 2004. He has been a media trainer since 1996.
