Solasteel Metal Coating, the Gold GAIA Award winner is the world’s first commercially available pre-coated water-based acrylic metal sheeting for roofs, walls and other applications that has significant advantages over current existing pre-coated material. 

Solasteel has been proven to be successfully and efficiently compatible with a wide range of metal components such as aluminum, galvanized iron and others.  Solasteel provides more comfortable working conditions, lower cooling costs and subsequent Greenhouse gas emissions.   Amongst its many competitive characteristics, Solasteel has been proven to provide high heat reduction coating and rejects 74.1% of the sun’s solar rays from the surface, alleviating much heat build-up in buildings.  It eliminates or minimizes the need for insulation in Zone 1 climates.

In addition, Solasteel, being water-based and non-hazardous, reduces the need for existing polyester based solvent (high VOC) coatings  that currently monopolize world pre-coated steel applications.   Mr Crampton stated that Coolshield has had much interest from Paint Coating Line manufacturers who wish to reduce the need for expensive add-ons to satisfy government EPA regulations. Further benefits are minimalisation of OH&S issues including transport, handling and emissions into the environment.
