ABOUT THE ARTIST - Bernadine has been creative from a very early age, when she began to paint with Oils, but then switched to Acrylics, mainly for the vibrant colour tones. She is also a keen Interior Designer and has project managed several commercial office fit-outs.Wire wrapping involves twisting and weaving wires by hand and with Jewellery Pliers, into elaborate patterns or even abstract designs. These wires then can secure an exquisite semi precious stone without the use of glue or solder.Bernadine was nominated as a Finalist in 2006 at the Sydney Bead and Gem Show Beading Extravaganza Juried Competition for her piece entitled "Forest Frenzy and again in 2007 for "Argyra's Crown". Winners for the 2007 competition to be announced mid Oct, 07.Due to her love of wired pieces Bernadine began creating Bridal Tiaras in early 2007. Bernadine Stoopman has been nominated in theTop 25 entries out of 300 Australia wide in the Swarovski Creative Beading Competition. Bernadine's entry entitled "Copper for Cleopatra" a freehand Copper wire Tiara embellished with Swarovski crystals and pearls and finished with fine wire wrapping will be on display at all the Craft and Stitches Fairs in major capital cities during 2008.The winner and final placegetters in the competition will be announced on 16th Nov, 07.
