About Andrew Peerman Patternmaking Fashion
I create Cardboard Patterns for Designer sample ranges, using overseas samples, magazine photos and 'Designer' drawings.
The initial pattern is laid down on preferred fabrics and traced around before cutting out the shapes. The fabric is then placed on a sewing machine, and sewn together by a 'Sample Machinist' to produce the first samples. My next job is to 'fit' the garment on a model with the Designer to 'pin and tuck' the necessary alterations to the design. I will then alter the Pattern to the desired specifications, and grade the Pattern into a 'nest' of sizes ready for Production.
