I like to focus
on strengths, goals and interests and choose music that
works best for each individual student.
I put emphasis
on note reading, but recognise the importance of playing by ear, particularly
in jazz improvisation.
It is important to be able to sight read the notes,
patterns of notes and intervals in music. This is the foundation to becoming an
independent learner.
Students
learning music for pleasure are still regularly challenged with more difficult
music.
I encourage
students to try different genre of music and also work with students in composing
music. Suitable pieces are published using Sibelius and other students get to
learn and perform them.
With a
flexible approach, I teach students to learn and discover the satisfaction of
achieving goals, whilst developing a life-long appreciation and love of music. Tel 8353 6678
