The sign below is a new type of LED sign. It looks just like a neon sign but with all the advantages of LED. They are so much more durable than neon and come at half the price. What's more LEDs are said to have a life span of 100,000 hours - that's a lot of hours. This sign has been filmed flashing, but it can also be set to static or to flash faster than is shown. The casing is injection moulded, so it's tough. These "OPEN" signs are in production now, but custom signs are also available for large orders.
